New opportunity for investment in perth west

March 16, 2018

An exciting investment opportunity in the growing City of Perth has been unveiled as part of a new Scottish Investment Portfolio launched by the Department for International Trade this week.

Investment partners are being sought to develop a new Scottish Eco Innovation Business Park on an area of land unlocked by the major road infrastructure project on the A9/A85 which is currently underway to the west of Perth.

The business park is part of a significant investment in West Perth with new housing, and a new secondary school already an established part of the offer. The new business park will promote sustainable growth with a focus on green innovation technologies for urban living, including a distribution centre, industrial, hotel and leisure offer, electrically enabled highways, mobility as a service, automation, and renewable district heating and power.

Councillor Murray Lyle, Leader of Perth & Kinross Council, said: “Perth is a rapidly growing city, and there is a proven demand for residential and industrial land to help feed that growth. The significant investment this Council has made in developing the road network on the western boundary of the city, and in locating our new secondary school within that area, has unlocked the potential of this area of land. Investment in Perth West will create fantastic opportunities for growth to improve jobs, quality of life, and the local economy. This is a great time to invest in Perth.”

The Council’s support for the Perth West project can be seen across the Chamber. Councillor Peter Barrett, Leader of the Liberal Democrats group in the Council, added: “Having the Perth West development site included within the Scottish Investment Portfolio is a major coup for the area. With the Department for International Trade’s backing, the site can be marketed on a much bigger platform, raising the profile of this exciting investment opportunity, and bringing the whole of Perth and Kinross to the attention of global investors.”

Councillor Dave Doogan, Leader of the Opposition for the Council said: “Perth’s location at the heart of Scotland’s transport network makes this a very appealing location for business investment. With a focus on green technology to support Scotland’s growing urban areas, the Scottish Eco Innovation Business Park will offer space for business development and expansion in this booming industry.”

The Scottish Investment Portfolio was launched at MIPIM, the annual real estate conference which gathers the most influential players from all sectors of the international property industry. MIPIM has proved successful in the past for attracting investment into Perth, with the initial introduction which led to the £30m Expresso Property project which is in development for the Thimblerow site in the city.
