Scottish Cities Alliance form partnership ahead of inaugural UKREiiF event
March 23, 2022Scottish Cities Alliance, representing seven Scottish cities, have formed a partnership with event organisers Built Environment Networking ahead of the inaugural UKREiiF event taking place in Leeds between 17-19 May 2022.
The Alliance is a unique collaboration of Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling, in addition to the Scottish Government, working together to promote the country’s great economic potential – and their newly formed partnership ahead of UKREiiF will allow them to do just that in front of over 500 domestic and international investors.
The partnership will provide the Scottish cities with the opportunity to showcase investment opportunities across the Scottish cities, with involvement within numerous stage discussions and roundtables, in front of an audience of investors, developers and blue-chip organisations.
Speakers already confirmed from the Alliance include the Leaders of Aberdeen City Council and Glasgow City Council, the Chief Executives of The City of Edinburgh Council and Glasgow City Council as well as Dundee City Council’s Executive Director of City Development, Robin Presswood.
Delegates from Stirling Council welcome the opportunity to discuss the exciting development at Kildean Business Park as well as other development opportunities in the area. Dundee will be discussing the city’s newest Waterfront investment opportunities and other key city developments and Aberdeen will be focussing on the city’s transition to renewables including the exciting developments at Aberdeen Harbour and the Energy Transition Zone. Glasgow will be further involved in the event through an exhibition stand where they will be promoting the city’s £30billion ‘Greenprint for Investment’, and Edinburgh will be discussing the city’s various multi-use developments including Granton Waterfront.
Councillor John Alexander, Chair of the Scottish Cities Alliance, said: “I am delighted that the Scottish Cities Alliance will be attending the inaugural UKREiiF event, where Scotland’s cities will be promoting to hundreds of domestic and international investors the billions of pounds of investment opportunities available in our cities across a broad range of sectors.
Cities are the beating heart of our economy, and now more than ever as we move towards post-pandemic economic recovery, the Scottish Cities Alliance’s collaborative approach is key to driving forward our cities’ collective ambitions to have thriving, green economies.
As Chair of the Alliance I look forward to building on the success the Alliance has had in helping to secure investment in our cities, and by collaborating with our partners and showcasing the best of what Scotland’s cities have to offer at events such as UKREiiF we can attract further substantial investments to help deliver a strong economy and make life better for all our communities, both now and in the future.”
Scottish Government Business Minister Ivan McKee said: “I look forward to attending The UK’s Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum, which provides an opportunity to showcase Scotland’s investment opportunities, particularly through our Green Investment Portfolio. The Forum can demonstrate to investors that Scotland and its cities are world leaders in future and innovative green industries.
“The Scottish Government is committed to working with all of Scotland’s cities to unlock investment, whether that is individually or collectively, through City Region Deals and Regional Growth Deals, or one of the Scottish Government’s devolved initiatives to stimulate growth and deliver infrastructure investment.”
Keith Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of UKREiiF, said: “Scottish Cities Alliance is a fantastic collaborative partnership aimed at attracting investment and creating growth – exactly what UKREiiF is all about. Their presence at UKREiiF further enhances the event, whilst the unique platform will provide an exceptional opportunity for all seven cities to promote opportunities and form relationships which will in turn unlock the great economic potential their opportunities hold.”
Led by property events company Built Environment Networking and supported by some of the biggest UK property and infrastructure companies, the first annual UKREiiF event will be held in Leeds on 17-19 May 2022. The forum will attract inward investment, generate economic growth and drive a more sustainable and inclusive culture within the property and construction industries.
