There are many exciting opportunities for potential investors who want to reap the rewards of Scotland’s status as a centre of excellence in the areas of data and digital technology. And at Scottish Cities Week in London in January, these investors will have a great opportunity to find out more about what’s going on, as well as the chance to speak to our City Leaders and leading industry figures.

The event, at commercial real estate firm CBRE’s offices, takes place in the afternoon of the first day of the two-day showcase, and it’s called Places that Innovate: Scotland’s Cities in the Digital Age.

It’s not to be missed as the get-together will provide a valuable opportunity for our eight cities to showcase how Scotland is re-skilling and upskilling its workforce for the jobs of tomorrow, making our cities attractive locations for businesses and start-ups, as well as creating new investment opportunities in areas including purpose-built student accommodation, build to rent and flexible workspaces.

The speakers at our afternoon event are truly world class. They include: Stephen Drost, who is the Chief Strategy Officer at Codebase; Chris van der Kuyl, Founding Chairman of Entrepreneurial Scotland and video games entrepreneur; and Jackie Waring, the Founder & Chair of AccelerateHer.

The organisations that our speakers represent are really impressive. Codebase has hubs across Scotland, including bases in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling, It was established to help people to thrive through their tech business journey. From starting up to scaling up, the experts at Codebase are on hand to help entrepreneurs every step of the way. The business provides flexible workspaces for hire and it runs courses to educate people on every aspect of data and digital.

Meanwhile, AccelerateHer, as the name suggests, is an organisation that focuses on helping women to start and grow their businesses. It offers practical advice and help and has created a network of talented female entrepreneurs who provide mentoring and encouragement to other women in business.

And Entrepreneurial Scotland is a charitable organisation that identifies people with the skills and mindset required to become business leaders and helps them realise their goals. This is done through education, scholarship programmes and mentoring.

The Cities Week event provides a window on the future of Scotland’s cities and it’s the ideal chance for investors to see how our modern and vibrant locations are moving with the times and offering the chance to set up tech-based businesses that will flourish.

There is no doubt that we have the people who can deliver the right results for investors – both people who have relocated to Scotland and those who were brought up here. Renowned as world-class institutions of learning, our universities serve as bastions of profound expertise, contributing significantly to the technological landscape. Remarkable developments are underway, presenting investors with a spectrum of opportunities distributed throughout the entirety of the country.
