Scotland’s cities are very popular locations to live and work in for people from all over the world.

And these cities are fast gaining global recognition for the fantastic lifestyle and employment opportunities that they offer.

Glasgow has made headlines after it was named in the list of the world’s top 50 cities by Time Out magazine, which praised the city for its friendly atmosphere, impressive and affordable shopping facilities and top quality restaurants.

The publication also singled out Glasgow’s cultural qualities, from its “thriving music scene” to the Glasgow Film Theatre.

And it’s not just Glasgow that’s been winning some well-deserved acclaim.

Perth has been named as Scotland’s most underrated tourist destination by the travel website WorldAtlas. The city is known for its public parks, museums and concert hall.

WorldAtlas said: “A scenic one-hour train ride north of Scotland’s capital city of Edinburgh, Perth’s setting on the River Tay makes it a superb day-trip destination.
“The star of the show here is Scone Palace, once the crowning place of Scottish kings, including Macbeth and Robert The Bruce. In addition to its gardens and maze, this attractive manor house boasts an impressive collection of antiques and rare artefacts.”

Also in the city, Perth Art Gallery is among the oldest art collections in the UK, including work from many influential Scots artists and the Perth Museum is set to reopen its doors next month following a £27 million City Region Deal project, and the new home to the Stone of Destiny.

Meanwhile, Dunfermline has been named the best city in Britain for affordable living and value for money in a study.

The survey, which was conducted by the estate agents Savills and The Telegraph newspaper, praised the Fife city for affordable house prices and a good range of employment opportunities.

And the newspaper also highlighted Dunfermline’s wildlife and culture offerings, calling them “good for the soul”.

The Savills survey also praised Aberdeen for its affordability; and the Granite City and the surrounding area of Aberdeenshire, have also been named the best places to live in the UK in another poll.

The study, for HomeViews.com, surveyed residents across Britain, with Aberdeen gaining top marks for house prices as well as for good public transport links and the fact that people can easily walk to a wide range of pubs, shops and restaurants.

It’s great that our cities are so popular, and this popularity is set to grow and grow as new and exciting investment opportunities become a reality.
