Scotland Global Investment Summit 2025: Driving a Nation’s Investment Future
November 3, 2025
Scotland’s ambition to become a global investment magnet was on full display at the Scotland Global Investment Summit, expertly co-hosted by Scottish Financial Enterprise (SFE) and the City of London Corporation. Held in Edinburgh in October 2025, the summit convened over 300 global investors, policymakers, and innovators to explore Scotland’s strengths in life sciences, clean energy, and financial services, sectors where Scotland’s cities are leading the charge.
Held at NatWest’s Gogarburn campus, the two-day event featured keynote speeches from First Minister John Swinney, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, and the Lord Mayor of London, Alastair King. Their message was clear: Scotland is open for business and ready to lead in renewable energy, life sciences, and financial services.
The summit was designed to connect foreign direct investors with real, investible opportunities across Scotland’s economy. With a pipeline of 42GW in offshore wind projects, a life sciences sector contributing over £10 billion to the economy, and a financial services industry worth £17.8 billion in GVA, Scotland presented a compelling investment proposition. Attendees engaged directly with sector leaders, toured innovation hubs, and explored projects poised for scale-up.
SFE CEO Sandy Begbie described the summit as a “transformational moment” for Scotland’s investment landscape. “We have industries already at scale that are brimming with ambition,” he said. “This is a structurally open economy with strong fundamentals and an investment story the world needs to hear.”
The event also highlighted the strength of collaboration between Scotland’s public and private sectors, and its world-class universities. The Lord Mayor of London praised Scotland’s leadership in the global net zero transition and its thriving health tech and financial industries, calling the summit “a vivid demonstration of what can be achieved when the UK works together.”
From gala dinners at Edinburgh Castle to sector showcases and deal-making sessions, the summit was more than a networking event, it was a strategic platform to unlock billions in investment and accelerate Scotland’s economic growth.
As global investors left Edinburgh with new partnerships and insights, one thing was clear: Scotland’s future is being built today, and the world is watching.
