Scottish Cities Alliance confirms re-election of Chair

June 29, 2022

Following a meeting of Scotland’s city leaders and the Scottish Government today (Wednesday 29th June) Cllr John Alexander, Leader of Dundee City Council, has been re-elected to the position of Chair of the Scottish Cities Alliance for the new local government term.

“I am honoured to be re-elected as Chair of the Scottish Cities Alliance by the newly elected leaders of Scotland’s cities and look forward to utilising the positive forum the partnership provides my fellow leaders and I to work in collaboration with the Scottish Government to address those issues that have a profound effect on the prosperity of our cities and the businesses and citizens they are home to.

In its tenth year, the Alliance has a strong legacy from which the new cohort of Leaders can build, including supporting the implementation of the National Strategy for Economic Transformation and the shared vision for City Centre Recovery. Through collaboration and co-ordination the Alliance has shown that collectively it can respond to some of the really challenging and difficult issues our cities face and I look forward to working with the partners to bring our collective capacity to bear in a positive way over the course of the new local government term.”
